I am very excited to offer supervision hours for social workers working towards their independent licensure!
Clinical supervision is crucial and necessary for our professional development. It provides an opportunity to reflect, grow, and collaborate between the supervisor and supervisee. Clinical supervision promotes ethical practice and supports the development of clinical skills. Throughout my career, I have experienced both AMAZING supervisors and also supervisors who did not create a safe space for me to grow and thrive as I needed.
It is my goal to promote open communication, trust, and transparency. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable discussing your experiences while receiving guidance and support. Supervision also involves providing regular feedback, both positive and constructive, to help the supervisee identify areas for growth and development. It is important to acknowledge that the foundation for supervision is an ongoing process that requires ongoing effort and attention from both the supervisor and supervisee.
Please see below for my specializations to see if I would be a good fit! You can contact me directly at rachelheiser@wtscounseling.com to schedule!
Supervision will be offered on Wednesdays and Fridays virtually at this time.
I specialize in working with the first responder population which includes: law enforcement, firefighters, EMS/paramedics, dispatchers, and military.
I have a background working in child welfare. During my Undergraduate time at The Ohio State University, I was part of the UPP (University Partnership Program) Program and completed my field placement at Franklin County Children Services. After graduation, I worked at The Buckeye Ranch as a Child Protection Specialist and Home-Based Clinician from 2018-2021.
Trauma-informed care is an approach that acknowledges that trauma can affect everyone and can be present in many forms. It aims to create healing and recovery environments, rather than practices that could unintentionally re-traumatize.
Trauma-focused care assumes that unhealed trauma plays a major role in the presenting issues.
As a Jewish clinician, I provide a safe space for other Jewish clinicians, or members of the Jewish community, to come and process their emotions without judgement or fear.
Social workers provide service to others above self-interest. Social workers utilize their knowledge, values, and skills to help people in need and to address social problems.
Social workers pursue social change. Our efforts are focused primarily on issues of poverty, unemployment, discrimination, and other forms of social injustice. These activities seek to promote sensitivity to and knowledge about oppression and cultural and ethnic diversity. Social workers strive to ensure access to needed information, services, and resources; equality of opportunity; and meaningful participation in decision making for all people.
Social workers treat each person in a caring, respectful fashion and are mindful of individual differences and cultural and ethnic diversity. Social workers promote clients’ socially responsible self-determination. Social workers seek to enhance clients’ capacity and opportunity to change and to address their own needs. They seek to resolve conflicts between clients’ interests and the broader society’s interests in a socially responsible manner consistent with the values, ethical principles, and ethical standards of the profession.
Social workers understand that relationships between and among people are an important aspect for change. Social workers engage people as partners in the helping process. Social workers seek to strengthen relationships among people in a purposeful effort to promote, restore, maintain, and enhance the well-being of individuals, families, social groups, organizations, and communities.
Social workers are continually aware of the profession’s mission, values, ethical principles, and ethical standards and practice in a manner consistent with them. Social workers should take measures to care for themselves professionally and personally. Social workers act honestly and responsibly and promote ethical practices on the part of the organizations with which they are affiliated.
Social workers continually strive to increase their professional knowledge and skills and to apply them in practice. Social workers should aspire to contribute to the knowledge base of the profession.
