Here is a sample list of common diagnosis at Weather The Counseling & Consultation; this is not an complete list. A diagnosis will be provided within the first couple of sessions and will be based on a thorough assessment. Diagnosis codes can also change at any given time due to changes in symptoms. 

I understand that having a "mental health diagnosis" can be uncomfortable. Health insurance requires a diagnosis in order for services to be covered. Keep in mind this is still not a guarantee services will be fully covered. Remember, you are not your diagnosis; it does not define who you are as a person.

How long you need to engage in therapy and how often you attend sessions is determined by many factors, including: 

• Your presenting needs and symptoms 

• Your treatment goals 

• Life changes and challenges 

• Schedule availability/clinician availability 

• Personal finances 

• Where you are in your course of trauma specific treatment 

Therapy can range in frequency from multiple sessions per week, weekly, biweekly, monthly, or less frequent. As your clinician, I will continually assess the appropriate frequency of therapy and will work with you to determine when you have met your goals and are ready for discharge.

Private pay does not require a diagnosis

There is more privacy and confidentiality. Insurance companies can/do audit client records. They have the ability to decline coverage for sessions.

You are able to decide how many visits you would like and how frequent your sessions are. Insurance companies are able to limit the frequency of sessions that will be covered.
