Hi, I’m Rachel, a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervisory Designation and the founder of Weather The Storm Counseling. I specialize in supporting first responders and their families who have experienced trauma, offering care that’s culturally informed, trauma-focused, and built on trust.
As the wife of a Columbus Police Officer, I understand firsthand the stress, sacrifice, and unique pressures that come with life in the first responder world. That perspective fuels my mission: to create a calm, respectful space where first responders and their loved ones feel truly seen, heard, and supported.
I work from a trauma-informed, strengths-based lens and rely on evidence-based practices to guide healing. My clinical experience includes helping clients navigate post-traumatic stress, dissociation, mood disorders, behavioral challenges, and self-worth struggles. More than anything, I believe in meeting people where they are, earning their trust, and working together toward meaningful progress.
I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University and am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) through the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).
When I’m not in session, I’m likely spending time with my husband, our two boys, and our three fur babies—or catching an episode (or five) of Law and Order: SVU
